Waiting for the Moon to Rise was my MFA thesis project at Parsons School of Design. Partially inspired by the work of Italo Calvino, the film is a modern fairy tale about a love triangle that has developed between three friends during their journeys to the moon to harvest cheese. The purpose of this project was to create a stop-motion short which successfully tells a story of unrequited love with no dialogue, using puppets with no facial animation. I wanted to find out how to effectively use body language to convey feelings, emotions, and ideas in order to explore the importance of gesture in animated shorts.
